A dramatic video captures NYPD in a high-speed pursuit of a moped driver on Brooklyn's promenade, marking the second dangerous chase event in recent weeks.

A recent startling video has emerged, showcasing an NYPD SUV chasing down a moped driver who was fleeing from the police, before crashing on a Brooklyn promenade. Captured in Bay Ridge near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, the footage demonstrates the police vehicle perilously close to the 17-year-old moped driver, as he veers off onto a grassy area and crashes into a metal barrier. The chase continues into an adjacent parking lot, where two officers pursue the teenager on foot, tackle, and handcuff him.

This intense police pursuit took place around 5:20 p.m., according to an NYPD spokesperson. The chase began when officers attempted to pull over the moped near Bensonhurst Park along Shore Parkway and Bay Parkway, but the driver refused to comply and sped off, instigating a dangerous pursuit that ended in his apprehension on the Bay Ridge Promenade.

In recent weeks, this marks the second time that a risky police pursuit has been caught on video. On May 24th, another shocking video surfaced on Reddit, depicting an NYPD SUV aggressively swerving towards a moped on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens. The footage appears to show the police vehicle making multiple attempts to sideswipe the moped, prompting an alarmed reaction from a woman recording the incident.

The NYPD, while unable to confirm specific details, has acknowledged the existence of these videos and has initiated an internal review to evaluate the actions and conduct of the officers involved.
