Shootout in Washington Heights Claims One Life, Injures Another

Late-night gunfire in Washington Heights leaves one man dead, another injured in an unclear dispute; shell casings were found at the scene.

Two men were victims of a shooting in the Washington Heights neighborhood, which resulted in one fatality, confirmed the local police department on Monday. Aged 24, Danny Trinidad was critically shot in the chest, while another man, 37, suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg. The shooting occurred on Sunday night around 10:35 p.m. near W. 176th St. and Audubon Ave.

Trinidad managed to reach New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia nonetheless, alas, his life could not be spared. The police informed. The second victim, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was urgently taken to Harlem Hospital by medical responders, where he is currently in stable condition.

The police department has yet to establish the cause of the gunfire and identify the intended target. Trinidad was a mere few blocks from his residence when he succumbed to the gunshot. Investigators at the scene found four 9mm shell casings.
