WNBA Under Fire From Aces' Kelsey Plum Over All-Star Weekend Tickets

Aces' Kelsey Plum agitates for player equity in WNBA's All-Star Weekend ticket policies amidst Aces' strong representation in the impending event.

Aces' Kelsey Plum has voiced dissatisfaction over the WNBA's neglect in issuing athletes tickets for this year's All-Star Weekend happening in Las Vegas. This frustration was first voiced by Alysha Clark, Plum's co-player, who sought to back the league's luminaries despite lacking a ticket. In a clarion call for equality on Twitter, Plum lambasted Cathy Engelbert, the WNBA commissioner, demanding that every WNBA player should receive an invite.

Upon being voted reserve for Team Wilson in the upcoming All-Star Game, Plum fortunately escapes this ticket kerfuffle. However, her teammate stands in less certain circumstances and will need to find a route into the buzzed-about activities at her own home turf.

Her tweet read: 'All I wish for is to support my teammates and the All-Star Game… Here's hoping I find tickets.' Clark's post also made note of the commissioner. A'ja Wilson, voted All-Star captain this year, playfully proposed a heist-like scheme; encouraging Clark to pretend needing to retrieve something from her locker as a ruse to get inside. This was tweeted amidst a pair of laughing emojis.

The All-Star Weekend has a strong lineup of the Aces this year. The team's guards — Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, and Plum — have been chosen for the game. Despite the controversy, there is anticipation for the skills challenge where Gray and Plum will represent Team Aces and Young will demonstrate her impressive skills in the three-point shooting contest. Undeniably, the player's participation will ensnare the attention of the spectators at home.
